Programs Built
for Real Change

Every TEACH program is designed with one question at its center: what does this person actually need to build a life they're proud of? From foundational literacy to career readiness — we meet people where they are.

The Core Curriculum

Literacy Mathematics Writing GED Prep

Education begins with the basics — but basic doesn't mean simple. The Core Curriculum meets participants at their current level and builds toward literacy, mathematical reasoning, and effective writing. For many, this is the first time they've had access to quality instruction.

Our facilitators are trained to teach without condescension — to honor where someone is while holding a high vision of where they can go. The Core Curriculum isn't remedial education; it's a foundation for everything else that's possible.

Program Outcomes

Improved reading comprehension and functional literacy
Mathematical reasoning skills for daily life and employment
Writing skills for professional and personal communication
GED eligibility preparation and testing support

The Writers' Room

Creative Writing Storytelling Healing

There is power in being able to tell your own story. The Writers' Room is a creative writing and storytelling workshop that uses narrative as a tool for self-discovery, healing, and identity reclamation. Participants learn to write — and in doing so, learn to understand themselves.

Led by published authors and experienced writing instructors, The Writers' Room is a space of radical honesty where every voice is worth hearing. Participants have produced chapbooks, personal essays, and spoken-word pieces that have moved facilitators to tears.

Program Outcomes

Advanced creative writing and craft skills
Narrative identity development and self-expression
Emotional processing through structured creative work

Bridges to Re-Entry

Re-Entry Planning Community Connection Support Networks

The walk through the gate is one of the most vulnerable moments in a person's life. Bridges to Re-Entry is TEACH's pre-release program — a structured pathway that connects participants to housing resources, employment pipelines, legal support, and community networks before their release date.

Through partnerships with community organizations, faith communities, and reentry coalitions across Washington State, Bridges ensures that participants don't walk out into nothing. They walk out into a network.

Program Outcomes

Individualized reentry plans developed pre-release
Housing resource navigation and referrals
Employment pipeline connections with partner organizations
Ongoing post-release mentorship and community support

How TEACH Works
Inside Facilities

01

Facility Partnership

We work directly with Washington State DOC facility administration to establish programming access, navigate approval processes, and set up secure, consistent scheduling.

02

Facilitator Training

All TEACH facilitators undergo comprehensive training covering curriculum, trauma-informed teaching, DOC protocols, and the cultural competencies needed to serve this community well.

03

Participant Enrollment

Participants are referred through facility case managers and screened for readiness. We maintain small cohorts to ensure each person receives genuine attention and support.

04

Ongoing Support

We track participant progress, provide ongoing facilitator support, gather feedback, and continuously improve our curriculum based on what's working — and what isn't.
